What entrepreneurs should know about HR

Roger Fagg writes in

It is important to understand that the management of people in organisations is not the sole responsibility of those people who work in HR or personnel. It is the responsibility of every line manager and it is important to encourage managers to take a challenging and analytic perspective on how people are managed in organisations.

Quite often managers forget that their chief role is to manage (why call them ‘managers’ otherwise?) and get great performance and results through their teams. HR can help and support them in this endeavour, but for that there needs to be a constant conversation between both sets of people. An understanding that they are partners with two objectives – development of the organization and development of their employees.
